Saint Paul, Minnesota - Pen and Ink - 2010
Traditional Italian-American food in an old-world setting, “It’s like being welcomed into a piece of Saint Paul restaurant history”. Cossetta’s Italian Market and Pizzeria is located in the heart of the West Seventh entertainment district on the western edge of downtown Saint Paul. In the late 1800’s, a young man named Michael Cossetta came to Saint Paul from Italy. He settled in a little Italian neighborhood called the Upper Levee - along the Mississippi River immediately south of downtown. Nearby in 1911, he opened a small food market called Cossetta’s - his quality foods and genuine hospitality ensured its success. In 1984, Cossetta’s relocated to its current, larger site and business prospered further. This illustration depicts that era before the fourth-generation family decided to expand the business on a grand scale in 2011.
